WP2

Chemical and biological characterization

The approach of WP2 is to conduct a suspect and non-target semi-quantitative screening of chemicals present in samples of air and dust from WP1, and to perform a wide-scope biological characterisation (microbiome and allergens) of the same samples. This provides a dataset of compounds, microbes and allergens identities in four cross-sections of European residential indoor environments.

Objectives:

  • To establish suspect and NTS workflows for air and dust samples.
  • To conduct suspect and (non-suspect) target screening of samples from WP1 and WP4.
  • To carry out biological characterisation of air and dust samples.
  • To prioritise chemicals/biological determinants in air and dust for WP3 and WP4 tasks.
  • To prioritise products and materials for development of pollution-reduction strategies in WP4.
  • To select samples for toxicity testing in WP3.

Deliverables (D1.1):

  • D2.1: Report on the chemical profiles and concentrations in air, settled dust, products, and urine from homes.
  • D2.2: Report on the biological characterisation of settled dust and products from homes.
  • D2.3: Report on the chemical and biological profiles and concentrations of the focussed sampling for source identification.
  • D2.4: Report on the prioritization of samples and chemicals in air, settled dust and products.
